Island Beach Motor Lodge

"Been coming to island beach motor lodge every year since I was a child (as has my entire family for over 30 years) and i'm extremely disappointed. Last visit gave us bedbugs and they REFUSED to take responsibility or compensate in ANY WAY."

"This hotel has bed bugs. I talked to management over a 2 month span to no avail. We experienced over 70 bites in a 3 day period. Management ignored phone calls, refused to show documentation from exterminator and would not listen to complaints nor provided a refund which was promised for expenses incurred. They handled this situation so poorly and without empathy as my family has gone every summer for 30+ years. Do not stay here."

"Received 40+ bed bug bites after staying here August 2023. My extended family has been going here for 50 years and has been going downhill every year. This was the last time I will ever stay there. Tom the owner personally called me a liar and refused to refund us in any capacity or provide any help. 5k in room cost and exterminator costs to stay in the DUMP."

"Other than a great location right on the beach, this place needs some updating. I really want to love this place but it’s hard. We had penthouse 1 up above the restaurant. The microwave was dirty when we moved in so I had to clean it. The size of the bed was too small for the penthouse. It should at least be queen-size. We had to turn the mattress & boxspring because it was sloped. Every time we showered the water ran hot & cold."

"I am sorry but this place is a dump, but it could be alot better. The rooms have not been updated since this place was probably built, fifty years ago. The bathroom sink faucets, sink, bathtub, and toilet bowl all have rust around the handles and drains; makes you worry about an infection if you have a cut and touch one of them. The sofa beds are incredibly worn out and literally at least 40 years old. They don't even provide any kind of maid service any longer, even though Covid is in the past. You have to get your own bath towels and toilet paper from the housekeeping office on site, and they close by 6 pm each day. They do not vacuum the all-carpet floors while you are there, don't take out trash from the trash cans in the units, nothing. There is absolutely no excuse as to why basic updates to the rooms and basic maid / housekeeping services are not provided. The management needs to do better because otherwise, the location of the beach and ocean is wonderful. However, until they update the rooms, I will certainly not be returning with my family"
