"I love the ride from Damascus to Abingdon. Scenic, peaceful and not overly crowded. Trail is gravel or dirt and the river is on your side most of the way. Takes me back to my country roots! There is also a shuttle that goes up the mountain to White Top in the opposite direction and you can pretty much coast down. My sister and I biked up it once. I've biked the Creeper Trail every year for probably 15 years. Fall when the leaves change is a great time to go. Damascus to Abingdon is about 16 miles one way. Lots of bed and breakfasts as well as Air BnBs."

"If you love to bike on rail trails, don't pass this one by. We went from Damascus up to Abingdon and back 30+ miles of good scenery, surface and of medium grade. Next trip go up the other side of the valley!"
