"We spent one night on our way to NYC and another night on our way back. Ataha, at the front desk, was very pleasant and kind. We highly recommend this hotel! Plenty of food for breakfast, very clean and quite. The best staff ever!"

"I have stayed at this hotels a couple of times before. However, after my most recent experience I will never stay there again. I booked a reservation on AARP/Expedia for Xmas Day. I thought I had purchased the cancellation insurance. Unfortunately on Christmas Eve a family member became severely ill requiring a trip to the ER. I immediately called the hotel to cancel the reservation, within what I believed to be the cancellation window. I was told I had to call AARP/Expedia, which I did, and was informed I had to call the following morning at 10:00am, which I also did. There upon I was informed the refund request had been denied by the General Manager. I called AARP/ Expedia back and they said there was nothing else to be done. They too refused to issue a refund, based on the hotel's refusal. Long story short, an entire day was wasted trying to resolve this issue. I talked to several, "Supervisors."I asked what I had paid for with the cancellation insurance and was told it wasn't included on my reservation. This was news to me. After spending an entire morning getting nowhere, I called the Choice Hotel Corporate Office. When they checked the records of my reservation, they told they were unable to match my phone number and home address to my account. Nothing matched my account. Also, there was no contact information listed. They also stated, my reservation showed I had checked out, when I never even checked in. I brought all this information to the attention of AARP/Expedia, but to no avail. They insisted no mistake had been made. The Corporate Headquarters also instructed me to recall AARP/Expedia and ask them to recall the hotel, which I did, but they refused to do, saying there was nothing else to be done. This entire fiasco took an entire day of my time, with no positive results. Going forward I will no longer consider any Choice hotels for any future stays or use AARP/Expedia for any future booking. If you want to avoid a lot of frustration, insensitivity & generalized waste of time, I strongly recommend you avoid these two brands. However, judging by my experience today, you are not valued as a customer, anyway."

"I never give five stars anywhere but the staff is the real reason they deserve 5 stars! They are absolutely amazing. Especially Linda! She was nothing but amazing. She made sure we had extra towels and wash clothes and even put out a candy bowl for the kiddos. She’s amazing which made our stay amazing! Will definitely be back whenever we are in town!"

"I was a regular at the Quality Inn and Suites in Big Stone Gap, VA, and I loved that place. The Comfort Inn in Charlottesville? Not so much... Everything was subpar: the rooms, service (lack of), cleanliness, missing amenities, lack of beverages at the front desk, security of the room (we got stuck in the first room they gave us, and it took us 10 minutes to get out. Can you imagine if there was a fire emergency?!!?) The breakfast was awful, and the coffee was just colored water. I can go on and on. It was basically an overpriced Motel 6. The front desk also lied to our face by saying they didn't have other available rooms when people from our party arrived 15 minutes after us and got a better room on an upper floor. Our room was also very noisy. I ended up unplugging the AC and fridge with the hope of getting some quietness in our room, only to end up having a truck outside our window with its engine running for 15/20 minutes. And other people staying on our floor were opening and slamming and opening and slamming their doors every minute. The whole stay was abysmal, and I will never stay there again, even if it was the last/only option."

"Worst experience ever! I would advise no one stay at this hotel. Not only was I offered two dirty rooms at this property but the service was also terrible. The customer service from the employees was also completely unprofessional. The first room had Mac and cheese on the wall, and bacon on the floor. The second room had hair in the bed. The uncleanliness of this property was by far disgusting. The night auditor, and front desk staff member refused to change the bedding, stating that housekeeping was not on property. The night auditor called the police to have me removed from the property. The GM, then banned me from the property. I would recommend sleeping in your car before staying at such a horribly managed hotel."
