"An open space lacking spatial definition ideal for a new infill development"

"Too much traffic Sunday to go to the Tidal Basin and Haines Point to see the cherry blossoms, so I turned around and went up 395 through the tunnel to Capitol Hill. Wound up parking on the north side of the Senate Park on the street. Plenty of parking, few people, beautiful cherry trees, lots of benches. Nice alternative to the Tidal Basin. Across the street is the memorial apologizing for internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, well worth a visit."

"Quiet small park in the middle of DC between Union Station and the Capitol Building. Beautiful trees and plump friendly squirrels."

"As I've written in my other reviews of the neighborhood, it doesn't cut it to just walk up to the Capitol building and take a pic and go. The whole area is gorgeous and splattered with little places to go see. One such is the Senate park. In particular, there's an absolutely fantastic - relatively lesser known - fountain here called the Senate Fountain. It's right on your way to the Capitol. Surprisingly, many people miss it. So take a pause. Look at this gorgeous structure! It should be on your holiday cards!"
