The Egg Bistro Haygood

"The most disgusting poor excuse for avocado toast ever. Threw it out. Not going back, Last year at this time, The Egg Bistro had the most delicious wonderful elevated avocado toast, made to order on crostini with boiled egg, sprouts actual avocado…mixed field greens - with the most lovely staff. It’s the only time I have ever taken a photo of my food… delightful. What happened?! Two months ago I was there - they were “out” of avocado toast and worst server and service ever, and I had brought in a table of 8… . Today we thought we would cautiously try again, got carry out, ordered avocado toast - it was absolutely disgusting. We threw it away, and will not go back. I’ve literally never experienced something quite so bad - it seemed like whoever made it and came up with this lame concoction had no experience in the kitchen at all… We got some cheap grocery store slice of bread, slathered with some really gross old or bought or premade bland blended tasteless gross guacamole, not fresh, not proper avocado mashed with field greens and actually seasoned.. no boiled egg, no crostini, no sprouts… nope, we got one half a cherry tomato on each side, two tiny pieces of cucumber and about a pound of cheap goat cheese on this really bad guac… We got it to go and there was no seasoning no dressing - a small plastic container of olive oil. And one of molasses-smelling bad basalmic. One bite, it felt gross in your mouth and it tasted worse. Like someone just threw a couple things on regular toast, smeared with old guacamole… and never tasted it.., and, it looked just as bad as it tasted. Last year was such higher quality… from an experienced chef…. Something bad happened… and it showed. The wait to eat in used to be so long with lines out the door on Saturday and Sunday … because the food and service was excellent. Today when I went to pickup the carry out, there was no one but one DoorDash guy. I wondered where the crowds went… now I know. We won’t be back either.,, Check out the photos: last year… then this year… gross. No thank you."

"The Egg Bistro was found on Google for a Saturday morning breakfast date. We were surprised to find it in an area we used to frequent. The atmosphere is decorated friendly, colorfully, and open. The menu selection has several Mexican food options (which is a favorite). I picked a Bloody Mary from the 2 sided drink menu and was not disappointed. Our food choices were both breakfast foods. The server was happy to make suggestions and point out some regular favorite tastes. My only issue is the back wall seating. Upon return I will definitely ask to be seated in a chair or a booth. The design of the bench was not pleasant on my back and I could not sit straight. We do plan to go back for a lunch date, keep in mind that they close by 2pm."

"Such a clean and full of amazing art place, I love that it doesn’t smell like wet mop (like a lot of places you go to eat), the sugar and cream containers were filled and clean, they definitely take pride in how the restaurant looks, and I could tell by all the details. Our server Stephanie was the perfect amount of attentive. She was so kind, pleasant and informative, gave us tips to order, and our food was absolutely delicious. Stephanie advice us to join the reward program and told us about the benefits so we did because we will definitely be back!"

"Alexandra was wonderful, attentive and sweet. She made sure to explain everything clearly and made dining quite enjoyable. The food was delicious. The chimichanga was ginormous with a taste to match. We also got the special with French toast and spicy sweet fried chicken. They should bottle that sauce! We'll definitely be back. Come early - it gets busy!"
