"Food and atmosphere are both incredible. Our waitress was very attentive and kind and our food was brought out quickly. Everything was correct and tasted great! I had the Chippewa chicken sandwich and jalapeno hush puppies and recommend both. The cafe is comfortable and everyone is very friendly."

"Best local bar in Kempsville! Great food, terrific service. The spot is a nice, homey local place. Lots of neighborhood people frequent this establishment. The food is really outstanding, even more so for a small place. Always a culinary school graduate staffing the kitchen. If you do go, order of the specials board as the chef always has something special for you. If you stick with the menu, the ahi bites are super popular. Great breakfast on the weekends that usually have Eggs Benedict"

"Not black friendly in the slightest, this is my first time here. Me, my aunt and my mother were only asked what we wanted to drink. It was very uncomfortable walking in no one greeted us and we were getting dirty looks. The waiter didn’t give us a menu , only asked what we wanted to drink. We got the drinks you see in the picture. We finally got the menu and decided on what to eat, my mom called for the waitress we were ignored while others that were here after us (not black) were waited on with smiles and comfort. No review for the food because we didn’t get that far."

"04JAN22 ~ I had a wonderful dining experience with my oldest brother, this is his favorite 'go to' restaurant. This hidden gem in the Kempsville area is locally & family owned. It has a friendly, non-pretentious atmosphere. We went there for the Tuesday night 'Shrimp Special'. It was great. The shrimp were plentiful, large, tasty, and perfectly cooked. It comes with melted butter for dipping & cocktail sauce. The hush puppies & Cole slaw were also excellent. Our waitress, Stefanie, was everything I would want in a waitress. She was genuinely friendly with a warm smile, she was articulate/well spoken, helpful, and came by at just the right times, not too much & not too little. The prices were exceptionally reasonable. Whenever I go to visit my family in Virginia Beach we always eat there at least once per visit."

"6/3/23 - Just finished dining at this place. I was excited to see a local spot with great reviews. Our visit had some hiccups though. We were told to sit anywhere. We were a party of 3 and there were only high top tables for that many. There were a lot of 2 table options but we didn't bother to ask if we could join them together; I am assuming you can.  There were only 2 servers and there were about 5 other tables including the bar. We did take a moment to order since we were not familiar with the menu. They also had a lot of specials to offer. They were not on the board yet due to them switching over from breakfast but before we left they were writing on the board. My table had the Caesar salad with chicken, the coastal burger without jalapenos, and the fairfield philly.  I also got the soup of the day which was a she crab corn chowder type soup. I got the soup first which she said she brought to me so that it was still hot when I got it.  It had a very good, nice flavor. Then my dad's Caesar salad came out second but they forgot the chicken. My dad mentioned it to them and asked how long it would take because it did take some time for us to get our food. She went to check on it but never came back to give us a timeframe until the chicken was ready, which was maybe about 7 minutes. So it was corrected quickly. The upsetting thing is it costs $5 to add chicken. When she gave us the chicken it was in a dipping sauce bowl, you could tell it was literally just one piece of a tiny chicken tender. My dad did eat the whole salad so assuming he liked it. We still waited a bit longer for my burger and the philly. The burger came out next but didn't have the onion ring on it. The fries were barely warm as well. The burger was delicious though. It was nice and juicy and cooked the way I wanted. The boom boom sauce was also yummy. I also liked that the juices from the burger and sauce got soaked into the bottom of the bun. The last item we got was the philly which in my opinion was the best out of the food we got. However her fries were cold as well. But the burger and philly were freshly hot. Also there look to be just one cook, so I can see why it took some time to get our food. The server did ask if we wanted sauce upon brining our food and brought them over right away but I felt she didn't check in on us. Even with those hiccups food was still delicious and it was a nice local spot. They also have outside seating. It was also cool to see them supporting other businesses. They give you a place mate with local businesses. My biggest negative is the air filter vent was super filthy, not very appealing to see."
