"Saturday 1/27/24 @1612 table 26 that I was seated at had not been cleaned completely. You can see a shiny build up. I requested collard greens. I asked for cabbage. The Uptown drink was too sweet. I requested water to dilute the sweetness of the drink. The waitress brought me an almost a full glass of water. Trying to mix the water and the Uptown had an entire mess. I ate 3 shrimp and some of my potatoes. Asked for my check and pointed out the dirty table I sat at. I can see staff peering at me from behind a wall. A woman came and sat at the table with me. Who was she? I didn’t request a manager. But as she stated why didn’t I ask for a manager. Again, who is she. Why did you not tell me who you were better yet who invited you to have a seat. I told her look at this table. I showed her the cabbage I received instead of collards. Her voice was getting a little elevated as she sat there. I stated that instead of coming to the table and saying sorry this is not how we treat our customers. You sat and questioned me the customer. Even after pointing out all that had gone wrong with my meal. Trying to support a black business that is over an hour from my home."

"Our server was Ya Ya and Journey was the floor manager. Outstanding service from both. Our entrees were the fried fish boat (whiting) and for me, fried catfish and shrimp. Excellent and the portions were huge. Sides were delicious—red potatoes and cheese grits. The cornbread is sweet—almost like a cake. Highly recommend."

"Tried this restaurant at Richmond. I heard this was popular around the Va location, so I was excited to try the food here. The food took a long time to come. The corn bread and the shrimp and grits were very sweet, and I didn't like it. It was more of a shrimp gravy, totally different than other places where shrimp and grits are creamier. However, other entres were good. Overall, it was nice, and I will try them out again."

"Our server Ya Ya was the best. She served us with Excellence! The food was GREAT!!! It was our group of 8 first time there. The portions were huge and worth the price. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area."

"Woooo baby! Totally enjoyed my crab cake dinner. Had plenty to take home. Everything was seasoned to perfection. We all have dinner for tomorrow. The atmosphere was so inviting and the background music brought back memories! I'll be back!"
