Tequila Sunrise Mexican Kitchen & Cantina

"I decided to try this new location with my family since they just opened, and the menu online looked pretty good. Upon arriving, we were excited when we saw the cool decor, and the vibe was really nice.... And that is where the excitement ended. We were seated by a nice but unenthusiastic host, noticing there were only about 2 other tables dining, which is odd for a Saturday night. We remained at our table, looking over our stapled paper menus with food crust all over for about 10 minutes until FINALLY someone came over to get our drink and food order and at the end the server never came back, we waited forever to finally get the check. Our food took forever to come out, and I was highly disappointed with the flavor of everything. The presentation looked decent, I suppose everything does if you throw a flower on it. I can't pinpoint the seasoning they put on everything, but it just wasn't pleasant. The "elote " was just canned corn drowned in butter, and it definitely did not taste like Mexican street corn "Esquites" Needless to say, dinner was disappointing. I had such high hopes upon reviewing their menu and seeing how nice the restaurant looks inside. I gave 2 stars because the guacamole was good and the artwork on the walls was fun."

"We stopped in for happy hour around 5:30pm and the restaurant wasn’t packed at all. We sat in the bar area to take advantage of the HH specials. Our server was pleasant but it appeared she was working all 3 areas of the dining room (which is large). We had a few minutes wait for our cocktails and had to ask for water in the interim. The HH specials are very value friendly $5 sangrias, mojitos, and margs and some $6 apps. I enjoyed my sangrias (red and white)! However my boyfriend’s mojito and on the rocks margarita were overpowered by the citrus and syrup. The frozen house margarita was great though. The chips and salsa were good; my boyfriend said it was the best salsa he’s had but the food was disappointing. I was so looking forward to the empanadas but they were all cheese. It was almost as if it was a mozzarella stick with some meat sprinkled in. I did ask if we could have new orders w/o cheese but our server stated they’re premade so that wasn’t possible. I love elote so we got the cob elote but the lime (I think) was very overpowering and tangy. Also the kernels were sticking to my teeth. The beef patty and cocoa bread were good. My boyfriend ordered his with shredded mozzarella and it was tasty so I ordered on a little later with no cheese but it was greasy. Also there was a 20% service charge. I do think this restaurant has great potential as I know they’re semi new. It’s spacious and has daily HH. And maybe we could’ve tried the entrees but I’m not too sure I’d dine here again."

"Incredible chips and salsa! I love their Mexican Flag burrito with ground beef. My husband gets the same burrito with chicken and it’s tasty too. The ambiance is incredible and you’ll want to walk around and look at all the artwork. We had fun playing pool and the bar set up looked good although we weren’t drinking. My kids love that they can color on the tablecloth and the kids menu has a good amount of options!"

"I'm giving this place a 5 star review because I want to see it stay around and I think it has a lot of potential to be an amazing place. With that being said, I think it would be a 3.8 to 4ish stars. We showed up and it's a Tuesday night, the parking lot is practically empty. That's not a problem but for a place this big and new, we thought it would be doing really well. Walking in, the atmosphere is great...better than great, this place has a great vibe and the bar is really eye catching. My initial thought was that we just came on a really slow night. We pick a seat and were handed our menus, which were printed on paper that are stapled together. Not laminated or protected...it just felt thrown together. There were 3-4 pages of options and the menus were huge. I think they could reprint those smaller and still be readable, or try to invest in a handful of laminated menus even if there aren't enough for every table. Also, they had QR codes to look at the menus so I would have rather been told to use that versus the paper menus. We got our chips and salsa, the first batch of chips were stale but the salsa was absolutely on point! It was so flavorful and delicious that I honestly didn't mind about the chips. We got another basket of chips and they were great so I thought maybe they had the "prepped" waiting in the back for customers to arrive to be ready and it wasn't as busy as expected. I got a frozen margarita and it was STRONG!! You are getting your moneys worth for drinks here. I didn't ask for salt and I wish I did but that was my fault. The music was really really loud but we asked for them to turn it down and they were happy to do that. This place could be a really fun venue or place to go to dance or party, that's for sure! Our food was delicious! I got the chicken enchiladas and my husband got the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was so tender and the sauces were great. The rice and beans were amazing! Also, I ordered the plantains and OMG, you have to get those. They were to die for! The staff was so nice and accommodating and were constantly checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. They have paper on the table, I'm assuming for easy clean up. I wasn't a big fan but it wasn't a huge deal. Overall, we had a great time and will be going again. I'm really hopeful about this place and I want it to stick around. If they can fine-tune the little small issues, I think the experience will really be amazing for all of the customers eating here."
