Plato's Closet

"If I could give this location 0 stars I would. I’ve been to a few Plato’s Closet locations; The location in Midlothian, Virginia Beach as well as NOVA. I had great experiences at these locations stated above. Notice I did not include chester because unfortunately my experience at the Chester location was beyond disappointing. The customer service at this location is deplorable and the employees should be ashamed as well as management for hiring such individuals. When I walked into the store I was not met with a smile or even a simple hello. I was met with a woman that looked very mad and like me entering the store ruined her day. She did not follow any of the protocol like taking my name or ID which was a huge red flag for me. I gave my number and was told that it shouldn’t take long for them to go through the clothes and that I would get a text when they’re finished. Hours passed and no one texted. I took it upon myself to call and lo and behold I find out “they forgot to text me”. I go back to the store to find out they did not take any of my clothes. They said my clothes were stained and had a bad odor however majority clothes had never been worn before and still had the tags on. So I knew that was a flat out lie. I left gracefully knowing that I was being lied to as I knew my clothes did not stink and were not stained and I took my clothes to the Midlothian location. At the Midlothian location I had great customer service I was met with professionalism and great customer service. I was met with a smile and “Hi, how are you?” Upon entering. They followed protocol like taking my id and texted me when they were done. They took a good amount of my clothes and did not complain about some so called “odor” and “stains” which makes sense because most of the clothes I brought were brand new and the clothes that were not brand new I had washed. I would avoid the chester location at all costs, the employees have serious attitudes and are not pleasant people to interact with. You will have better luck at the Midlothian or even VA beach location."

"Rebecca at this location was just absolutely amazing her customer service skills were absolutely amazing. She seen that I was struggling just a little while shopping with my 3 yr old autistic son who is full of energy lol she came and gave him a little toy and also accompanied him while I tried on a shoe for myself. It’s been a while since I came out to shop for myself and Rebecca made my experience very pleasant thank you again it really meant a lot!"

"So for 2 days in a row I have been bringing A-1 top quality shoes in to this location. I mean custom made shoes that have never been worn .. straight out the box even with the receipt still included. I sold 12 boxes of shoes to the location . Today really took the cake.. I bought in 3 new pair of shoes once again straight out the box and had never been worn. Plus they were also custom made. All to get a a total of $24 dollars for new Jordans, A pair of New Balance and A pair of Nikes. I mean seriously!!!! The sad part is I stay bringing in all my new clothes with tags in them and still yet Christian the owner always give a small price and makes a killing off of the shoes after you sell them to him. Today I witness how my Jordans which were a 10 and I paid $150 for them and New Balance which were 80 and then my Nikes which were like $80 something get downgraded to only $24 dollars while he has 2 pair of beat up Jordan’s in the shelf selling over $100. I mean this is really a slap in the face! But as I shared with the Lead Kate.. I will be taking my new and freshly designed shoes from now on to Richmond where they definitely value your shoes and give you at least a fair trade amount not $24 dollars! The sad part is just because they can’t find it in their system he automatically gives you the low ball figure. So FYI please to not take and custom made shoes or shoes that were specifically designed here cause they won’t give you your money worth at all. They base everything off of a computer not common sense or value. On a great note I can say that Kate was the bomb and did try to let him know that they were 10 out of 10 shoes but still he didn’t listen to her and gave me what he wanted so he can make a killing off of the shoes. So your paying overprices prices for shoes that as customers we worked our butt off for and giving us the end of the Totem pole deal. This is a very quick way to lose business. But, hey I don’t mind giving it to someone else that will definitely honor my expensive taste and creativity in shoes. But again thanks Kate and Ashley you two always make my visit worthwhile !! Kudos to you both! UPDATE: To make things very clear. I didn't disrespect not one of your employees. I dealt with Kate and she was very friendly both times. So what your saying is completely bogus. There was only one customer in the store and she agreed with me...so make it make sense as you say. The point of it all is that you don't like the review I gave but lets be honest ..I'm not the only one that feels the same way about your store. Check the reviews out they don't lie and of course you would say all this to cover your business, but the truth is I have the photos and video to back up my visit. Not once was I rude to anyone and photos don't lie. In addition, I don't have to come to your store!!!! LOL"

"I read reviews of this place for two days & was contemplating of going to this particular store. Trust me, after reading the reviews I did not want to go. As soon as I walked in there were four ladies behind the counter and they all acknowledged me and welcomed me into the store. I literally shouted wow! Y’all’s reviews are wrong! Though they did not accept my grandmas clothes. One of the women looked at the clothes and shoes right in that moment. Of course, the brands they accept are listed on the website & I did not have any of the brand they were accepting l, so that is the reason she couldn’t accept the clothes. I mean this seems like a very reasonable outcome for this visit. That’s why I’m giving it 5 stars."
