"Baines is one of my favorite places in this world. I've been going since I was a kid and spent a lot of afternoons there as a teen. The book selection is good for a used bookstore, the vinyl is decent, and the food and coffee are phenomenal. I pick up Baines coffee beans every time I come through town. Personally, their scones and the pasta salad are so good. Its one of the gems of Appomattox, and a visit for the cozy ambiance alone would be worth it. I'm probably biased, but I feel its one of the best coffee shops anywhere in Central Virginia."

"Great cup of coffee. Huge selection of coffees and delicious looking, made from scratch food. Would love to see one or two egg free and gluten free selections on the menu. Such a comfortable place to sit and work. Loved the atmosphere. I’d love to have a day just to browse through their collection of books. Perfect place for a rainy day."
