"I went to Dr. Spivak for an excruciating pain in my lower back. This has been with me for a decade but has gotten worse every year to the point of severe pain affecting even basic functioning like walking. After viewing MRIs he recommended ablations to my sacroiliac joint and facet joints( which had brought relief in the past to a medium degree). Both were done but we're relatively ineffective. I'd say the least effective I've experienced. I know he's a neurosurgeon MD that does surgeries and I said " where do we go from here". This is where I believe he was uncaring. He crudely said " I'm not a magician and there's nothing that can be done" . After my surprise and astonishment I then said , "so what am I to do, live the rest of my life in terrible pain " and his answer was simply "yes". He said go back to your pain management Dr. and maybe he can help with the pain. Fast forward to my pain management doctors recommendation of an specific orthopedic surgeon. After this surgeon said it would be tricky but I can help 6 months and 2 surgeries later I'm feeling like a different person. Still some residual pain from the last surgery but the pain that I lived with for years is nearly gone. Please go to a Surgeon who cares and doesn't just blow you off. I have zero respect for Dr. Spivak. His skill and his bedside manner is lacking terribly."
