Avo Modern Mexican

"We came in on a Saturday afternoon with 7 and a cake for a birthday. The host asked if we had a cake and said normally there's a charge. They went in the back and came out and said it was ok. They brought us waters but seemed to be annoyed as he slammed the water glasses on the table. Our server Brooke took our drink and food orders and the food came out very quickly! Food was delicious! Came time for cake and Brooke told us about the $2/person charge so we told her about what the host said. When the checks came we were not charged for the cake (thank you) but we were charged gratuity for a "large party." There were 7 of us. Sadly, the attitude of both the host and the server changed my opinion of this establishment with amazing food. Our group consisted of people from the service industry so we "get" it. Brooke would have gotten tipped more had she not added the gratuity for a party of 7- anywhere we've worked its been gratuity for parts 8 or more. We REALLY loved the food but will probably not be back because we did not feel welcomed. Thanks."

"The food was so good and the service was impeccable. They only had two servers and a pretty full house when we came with a large party of 9 and a number of dietary restrictions, but they got all our food and drinks out and helped everyone find substitutions or items based on their diet! We loved it!! The interior is also so well decorated and really warm and welcoming. The cocktails were FANTASTIC also!"

"First time coming to this establishment in Ohio City. The service was great and speedy. The food menu has many options, same goes for the drink menu. The food was priced well and the drinks were great. The tacos were very tasty. I will definitely be coming back and I recommend checking this place out if you're in the area."

"Edit: I did eat at Avo Modern, however I included pictures of homemade food which I thought tasted better and cost lest Pretty good place to get some good modern takes on mexican food. No mexicans actually work here so its not really authentic hispanic food but still good flavor profiles. Also a little pricey but thats too be expected for the location. Great place to have an arm wrestling contest or a water drinking competition. I thought the 56 yr old white dude saying insensitive hispanic jokes was a little over the top but not my place to judge a resturants vibe."

"Food was good I had the Birria taco, a pineapple margarita as well as the house guac. Everything tasted great. My friend had the fried chalupa which was good taste wise it came with a strand of hair. She told the server immediately and they were very apologetic and accommodating . Other than that it was great. Nice atmosphere to talk and eat."
