Cambridge House Bed and Breakfast

"I wouldn’t normally leave a review without actually staying in the B&B, but my experience trying to book a room here was frustrating enough that I believe it deserves appropriate feedback. I’m sure the rooms are nice and it’s a great location. My issue is with the tone set by the staff, at l least the staff member I finally reached. I used their website to identify lodging options, which worked fine. However, given their cancellation policy I wanted a couple of questions answered before committing. I called around noon the day before our potential stay, so I was anxious to get the information and finalize the reservation. I didn’t reach anyone directly, so I left a message. A couple of hours passed without a response, so I tried calling multiple times throughout the rest of the afternoon, finally reaching someone later in the day. When I said I’d been trying to reach them, he indicated he’d been busy all afternoon cleaning the rooms… based on his tone, a task he didn’t relish. Fair enough… I indicated I had a couple questions, that I was on their website, and wanted to confirm that the inventory and options were up to date before I made the reservation… The individual, apparently already put out by the first question, flippantly responded, it’s accurate, it’s the only system they use… like I’m supposed to know that… At this point, the vibe was so negative that I immediately dropped our plans to stay there, indicating as much and hung up. Unfortunately, our experience suggests that, like so many businesses in the service industry today, they’re likely suffering from staffing problems. Whether he was the owner at the end of his rope, or an employee with poor customer skills, it cast a pall over any hope of a positive experience. I hope it was a fluke…"

"We enjoyed a two day getaway to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. The house is beautiful and well-kept. The breakfasts were delicious. Jim and Marianne are gracious hosts!"

"We really enjoyed our recent weekend at Cambridge House. Among the unique features were our beautifully decorated bedroom with antique furniture, the claw foot tub, and the wonderful collection of paintings the hosts had collected from all their international tours of duty. As B&B enthusiasts, we especially appreciated the creative gourmet breakfasts which were among the best we have sampled. Hosts Marianne and Jim make you feel very welcome and, at your choice, will share fascinating stories of their travels all around the world. The house is conveniently located within walking distance of historic Cambridge which boasts great restaurants like Blue Ruin and Vintage 414, and unique boutiques. We also enjoyed the sunsets, the short walk to the lighthouse and the beautiful waterfront. Victoria and Paul"

"In August 2022, we stayed at this quiet B&B with nice spacious rooms in classy decor. Jim and Marianne were very friendly, welcoming hosts - just as their dog Max and their cat (whose name I can't remember, though). The breakfast was awesome, the best meal we had in Cambridge. Two thumbs up!"
