Reviews
"Smarts Mill, what happened to you? This review is going to be very long, yet brutally honest. I will be bring up several points against the school and it's many, many flaws. Let's begin with a story. When I first joined the school during 6th grade, I actually liked it. It gave off a nice, charming appearance and felt like home away from home to me. Call me a nerd, but it's true. Never have I felt more welcome and appreciated, not just from my fellow peers, but from the administration as well. And you know what? It was amazing. I loved going to school, looking forward what to do every single day. Moving on to 7th grade.. I still loved the school. Although some of it's flaws such as the cancerous dress-code (I've got some more juicy info waiting up ahead about it), and wacky teachers were starting to feel more apparent, I still loved the school. 7th grade was hella fun, if I could say so myself. Then, 8th grade began. This is when the school's flaws jumped out of the darkness and appeared right-up. I was starting to become more of a trouble-maker, granted, but I began to feel people's hatred for the school. Let us now begin with the points. 1. Overboard Punishments: Now, I had an incident that I don't wish to get into details of. I believe it's okay if I get punished what I deserved and did at the moment of the incident, but no.. I got punished for even more things. I was in trouble for.. old things on my InstaGram?? The school cannot legally punish you for things that are out-of-school. This goes against a literal amendment in the constitution, which is freedom of speech. Not only that, a bud of mine was planning on having a fight with another kid near a 7-11. The school caught on, and the principal was.. waiting at the 7-11 store? Which is again, out of school. Which brings me to my second point. 2. Bad Administration The principal of our school doesn't truly function like a principal. If you've seen other reviews, people are accusing him of putting people in trouble for small things, aka going overboard with punishments. Now, it would make sense if there were one or two, as there's always a few bad eggs of a school whining. However, this is a different case. Our school isn't full of bad eggs, just students who seem to do a little bad from time-to-time. There are several reviews against the school complaining about our administration. As a principal, your job is to help maintain a school. You can't do that if you punish mostly-innocent kids with detentions and even suspensions, while the kids who do way worse things go off with only a couple days out. Next point. 3. Shady Biz Now, this is merely a rumor which, I guess is false considering school is over for the year, but was still considered. The school was considering punishing people for putting reviews on the school. That's right. That's against freedom of speech/press (I mean we're not the newspaper but we're still using text). That's not one of the many times the school has been breaking rules. They also don't recycle. They have many recycling bins laid out throughout the whole facility, yet they don't use them. It's basically a fancy trash bin at this point. Which is kinda false advertising (well, they're showing the service of them recycling when they're really not.) in my book. Finale You know what? These are only 3 major points I made. There are several, many many more. And I haven't even put in all of the faults in all three of them. I just don't want to make this review even longer than it already is. If you want to see those other points, look through the schools or ask the class of 2017-2018. If you want to minimize your chance of getting screwed over by the school, stay alert and make as little mistakes as you can. And don't ever do anything that can get you in trouble, or else the cycle to getting trash'd on by the school begins. -Shoebur Rahman, Student of the class of 2017-2018"
"I'm a student at smms and I just want to say that this school is bad, the teachers have zero chill and don't know how to control the students, while it's a fun school mostly because of the students, the staff is terrible. The system is terrible and the prizes for good behavior aren't effective. I think that Mr. Waldman doesn't think about what the students want, but about how to get more trophies and awards, like the student conference. I talked to some of the staff about it and they didn't like the idea as much as the students. Most people took it as a joke. That just shows how much control Mr. Waldman has."
"Literally the worst school ever for many reasons. The deans are some trash and yell at you for not eating your fruits and vegetables. The teachers don’t even do anything they just sit there and yell at you. Most teachers leave in the middle of class and come back 30 minutes later. German is horrible so everyone leaves it only because of the teacher being so mean, don’t take it. They don’t even have janitors and make kids broom the cafeteria if they spill one ritz cracker. Mrs. Hagan is the only good person out of the deans and counselors. The student conferences were stupid and a complete waste of time. Don’t take German. Catch up day is just for idiots who can’t finish work. Clubs are boring and mandatory and waste school time. They make you chose 6 options, not even in order and you get one for a whole year even if it sucks."
"so i've been looking at some of the reviews and it appears that the school doesn't recycle. The Staff members come up with the most petty explanation for discipline. Some of the teachers are great though that they make the School more enjoyable. Other staff members will walk in during instructional hour and take away time from students. They should implement useful skills and better disciplinary measures .The staff will get mad if you are criticizing the school. Which totally absurd because they are doing their jobs and it's their job to educate us and help us learn. staff members who aren't the principal will act like they are in charge of the whole school and give out unreasonable discipline. i think one way for the school to improve would be to hear out the students our voice wants to get heard. we get it we aren't some of the best kids and we are wrong and make mistakes, but it's not just students who make mistakes it's staff members too and they need to acknowledge the fact that they make mistakes too."
"I go to this school but seriously a lot of the students here are just plain rude. There should be a program to teaxh the rude students how to respect and be nice to othee students and staff. I say it is an okay school, but it could have been better. Part of the teachers are amazing but the other half are kinda mean, from what I've heard... But eh I should like this school anyways because I go to it... Thanks I guess.. Idk It's fun?"
