"What a horrible experience. I had recently moved to Smaldino because our old dentist was no longer accepting our insurance. So we went to him by recommendation. The first visit was okay but then he (not the hygienist) said I see a cavity. So we scheduled a date to get it fixed. I called in advance to let them know I have severe anxiety around needles they give me panic attacks and a lot of anxiety in general. I told them to make sure I don’t see the needle because I would panic. I’ve never had good experiences with needles and this only adds to the list. I went in and immediately saw the needle and got jumpy. He was getting mad at me I told him to give me a minute to breathe because I was hyperventilating and shaking and he came back even angrier than he was originally. I tried being calm but ended up yelling at me and canceling the appointment. Telling me I deserve to be punished for acting how I was. I was 13 at the time. I left crying and the staff was apologizing when I left. I then went to another dentist about a week later they x rayed me multiple times and confirmed I don’t have a cavity. This leads me to believe he was only doing it for money and was going to ruin my teeth. He’s insensitive, inconsiderate, and rude and I would never recommend going there."

"had not been to a dentist in over 30 yrs. my tooth shattered and i was in a lot of pain for 2 days trying to find a dentist quick. friend told me about Dr Smaldino but he was a drive for me( i live in Cleveland) When his assistant Michelle took my call and heard my painful situation she got me in the next day. He pulled my tooth with no pain. i will be a customer for life, well worth the dive, very professional"

"I went to this dentist for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had a broken tooth that happened a while back when offices were closed. They did an X-ray and determined I needed a root canal but the are was infected. He put me on antibiotics and scheduled me to return for the root canal. I have extreme anxiety with dental procedures and was pleasantly surprised today when I went into get the tooth taken care of . The Dr. numbed my mouth and came back a short time later, like he said he would when he left the room. He asked if I was numb and I had said no. ( I have had this issue at other dentists also) he said he would give me a “little more “ and check back with me. He came in and all was numb. He was quick with the repair and asked through the treatment if I was okay or having any pain. I came home and expected pain as the numbing wore off and had none. I am very happy with the treatment I received."

"Office staff is amazing.... Dr himself fast paced , doesn’t talk to patients about their concerns or treatment options ! Put a hole in my chin with his drill and had no sympathy . Wasn’t apologetic nor did he care ! If you need need a quick fix he’ll get the job done then be out like flash ! I’ve been to the dentist in the last month 4 times and 2 of them were just to look in my mouth instead of continuing my treatment plan ! I wouldn’t recommend for children or adults who have a fear of the dentist ."

"Best experience with a dentist that my wife and I ever had. Our procedures were not simple ones and we left there with absolutely no pain. Everybody in that office is kind and nice. If you need something explained to you, they pull you aside and answer any questions you have. Dr. Smaldino is great. Awesome personality and a lot of compassion. I'll never go anywhere else!"
