"Janes Island State Park Campground is a very nicely maintained campground. We had a great view of the salt marsh across from the bulkhead on Daugherty Canal. Gorgeous sunsets. Went took out inflatable Kayaks out to the remote beach across the flatcap Basin and had a great time swimming in the lower Chesapeake bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and will definitely return. We took an easy 15 minute bike ride into Crisfield for Ice Cream at the Waters Edge Cafe, which can be enjoyed at the Gazebo on the Dock at the end of Main Street."

"Very scenic place not too far from DC. The marsh is beautiful and the sunset is gorgeous. There is an observation tower where you can climb up. I rented a kayak here and it was pretty fun. The best part is there is no entry fee and you can park for free. Amazing hidden gem place if you live around the DC area and looking for an escape!"

"Easy parking and boat ramp, very friendly ranger, and low fee for a day on the canoe. Well marked water trails and a great beach at the end of the creek. Plenty of private coastal coves to explore. We canoed down to Crisfield and then came back around through the marshes. Fun! They had canoe and kayak rentals too. Bathrooms close by."

"First time going to Janes Island and our experience was just OK. It’s a very nice place to camp and for water activities. Went camping to relax and it was the opposite of that. Both our neighbors were so loud at night and woke me up. Even though there are quiet hours set in place and that’s one of the things they tell you when you check in. Some people are not respectful of that. The bathroom near loop C is terrible. There were so many bugs in the bathroom. All the windows were closed, and the fan that was suppose to be on was off. It was so hot and muggy inside. The only nice bathroom is the one near the camp store. Which is so annoying. I understand your camping but sheesh. Both my boyfriend and I were eaten up by the bugs even with having sprayed ourselves with bug spray multiple times. On a more positive note. The staff on the grounds are super friendly people and very helpful. It’s a great place to go canoeing or kayaking. You can rent canoes, kayaks, and bikes at the camp store. I definitely want to give Janes Island another try but maybe in the fall when it’s not summer time. I definitely recommend going out to the little town near by to explore. Definitely check out Fisherman’s Grille! The food is amazing if you are looking to have some seafood while visiting."

"We just spent 4 nice days at Janes Island. The park is beautiful with the mature pine forest. The sites are very well kept and have lots of room, which gives that added layer of privacy. We stayed away from the waters edge, which was the less popular section but quieter. Unfortunately, this time of year 7/10 - 7/14, the bugs were pretty active. It was too warm for campfires and sitting out all day, but in the evening it was very pleasant. We will return as this is one of the nicer places to stay on this side or Maryland. I would only ask that they give us more room to get into the dump station, and there was one tree that made for a tight turn in loop B. We are in a 35' 5th wheel. The park is close to town, I think about a mile to Food Lion and a few from all the restaurants at the docks. Thanks, Janes Island staff, for a nice stay. Best site in loop B #73"
