Char Steakhouse and Bar

"The Char Steakhouse & Bar is an amazing upscale and great quality steakhouse house chain restaurant that offers guests superbly made steak and seafood cuisine in a warm and cozy setting. In November of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at the Char Steakhouse & Bar, specifically the branch based in Mahopac, NY, and we had a wonderful dining experience!!! We were kindly welcomed and warmly treated by the restaurant’s staff and we were provided with the best table in the restaurant, one closely located to the fireplace. Our server, Nikki H treated us with impeccable customer service by providing us with a detailed overview of the menu options and specials and carefully noting our meal selections. She also routinely checked with us to see if we were enjoying our meals. We give a huge two thumbs up to the service provided by Nikki H. In addition to enjoying our service, both my wife and I absolutely loved our meals and found that it was perfect cooked, seasoned and unbelievably tasty and delicious!!! My wife ordered and enjoyed her steak based entree while I ordered and loved my burger based entree. It was unquestionably one of the best meals we’ve ever had!!! My wife and I highly recommend for everyone to visit and dine at Char Steakhouse!!! We are confident that you’ll have a great dining experience!!!"

"Just wow! The Potterhouse steak for two was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and the sides were a good size. Started seated outside but the mosquitoes were as hungry as I was! They quickly accommodated us inside which was great. The staff was attentive and didn’t rush us."

"everyone told me Char was overpriced but I was pleasantly surprised to see that’s not true at all. Me and my dad came in on weds and they have a great prime rib special and their portions are quite generous. Atmosphere is a little stiff but that’s all westchester/putnam. Old school steakhouse vibes but clean and updated. The place filled up quickly while we were eating but the service was great and Jessica obviously knows what she’s doing , props to u sis. Also the busboys are attentive and very sweet. I’m not a huge steak person but it’s nice for a family meal. I had the Panko crusted mahi mahi and it was no lie the size of an ellios pizza. Showstopper was the wedge salad. Best one I’ve ever had. The owner came by and it’s always nice to see them in the crowd, they definitely CARE, which is pretty rare nowadays. I’ll come back with more carnivorous friends sometime."

"I had zero expectations coming in here. Some family friends invited us. The service started off great. The waitress was loud and clear, in a good way. But once she got our orders, that was it. She disappeared. Appetizers and first round of drinks arrived timely. Second round of drinks was slow. Main course was even slower. By the time it arrived, we weren’t hungry. My girlfriend and I had ordered the highly recommended tomahawk steak special for two. It was huge. So it was hugely disappointing to take a bite and find it had zero flavor. It was also super fatty and hard to cut. I’m no steak expert so I’m not sure what the problem was, but I can safely say it was one of the worst steaks I’ve had in my life. My girlfriend said her steak at Outback Steakhouse was 10x better. When we brought it up with the owner or manager or whoever was in the pink shirt, he shrugged it off. That’s life. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. Except this was a $150 steak. Ouch. Their attempt to make it up to us was free desert, which we didn’t have the appetite for anyway. Left that place 10 pounds heavier for nothing. We brought that tomahawk steak home and gave it to my cat who immediately threw it up. That tells you all you need to know."
