Lice Clinics of America - Connecticut - Orange

"Lice is going around my kids' school, and we had a lice "scare" the other day. I took all my kids to Lice Clinics of America, and while I never write reviews, we had such a positive experience here that I felt like I needed to. (1) Flat fee for checking - there was a flat fee for checking the whole family, which is incredible, since I have multiple children - some with VERY intense hair. Checking took 2.5 hours, and this fee didn't change. (2) Transparency - Even though I imagine they are heavily motivated to find lice due to the flat fee for checking, they found the early signs of an infection on only 1 child. They showed me what they found under a microscope, so I could feel confident in what was being treated. We opted for their signature heat treatment which is guaranteed for 30 days. For everyone else who they found nothing on, they told me they could not do their signature treatment, which I felt was really honest, since that's where they make the $$$. They had other options if I chose, like a comb out or an oil treatment (which I chose for one child), which could be done for preventative/proactive/"to be sure" reasons, but there was zero pressure on that. (3) Atmosphere - Our "checker" was Alison, and she was super nice. Great with the kids, and nice to talk to. They also had Netflix to keep the kids busy, and Alison gave the kids snacks. (We brought our own, too.) (4) They provide all documentation you need for school, and they even provide a receipt if you wanted to try and submit for reimbursement from your insurance. They also have advice for aftercare. Overall, lice (or even a lice scare!) is NOT fun. However, this experience really took the stress and pressure out of everything - both from the cost angle, the confidence angle, and the stress angle. And a special thank you to Alison who was a huge part of that!"

"I am absolutely baffled and disgusted by this clinic!!! I worked for Lice Doctors for 4 years and became licensed in head checks and cleaning lice. I was one of their top technicians never had a complaint or a bad review. I no longer work there as I have graduated with a masters and continued in my career of choice but have used everything I have learned over the years to help my family of 6 when lice touches our household. Recently about a month ago my daughter came home scratching so my natural reaction was to check her head and sure enough she had lice. I immediately began treating everyone in the household even though only 3 out of 6 of us had it but it’s the only way to make sure it’s gone for good at the end of treatment. I’m grateful for my time at Lice Doctors as I would not be confident in my abilities to fix a tedious yet very stressful situation. I even have taught my kids over the year what to look for so they can be more proactive as well. We notified family and schools as it’s the right thing to do and to ensure the kids don’t get reinfected after going through the lengthy process when treating at home. Once we completed our treatment cycle (12 days) and the kids were lice and nit free I wanted to get notes for family and school that they were clean as I no longer work for lice doctors to prove that were professionally cleared. Unfortunately the company I worked for charges hourly and for a family of 6 would of costed us over a thousand dollars as they do thorough full head checks which is great but again I was confident in my abilities and needed a cheaper solution. Lice clinics of america offers checks for $25.00 per head which was completely affordable. Unfortunately the experience I had was completely disgraceful. We went and they were checked for less then a minute dry in the Hartford location and was told they have nits although when asked to do a wet check with the comb to pull out these so called nits immediately was pushed towards treatment and told they can not do anymore without paying for treatment so we left our technician was Mai Tran. She legit pulled out dirt and scalp on my son and claimed it was nits and got nasty when I tried to educate her. Again took about a minute for a check and did no more! I immediately called the supervisor. The manager Stephanie was so nasty and did not care what I had to say or want to hear my concerns. She said that “we’ll if you work for lice doctors why are you coming to us” LOL! what manager discourages clients from using there clinic. I tried to educate her and she said dry checks ARE APPROPRIATE! immediately I knew I was dealing with in educated professionals that are scamming ppl. Now I was on a mission to prove these people are scammers! We finally got our preferred location orange today and got the same technician Mai Tran. Who remembered the kids but must of forgot which one had nits last week bc this week the kid that had nuts was but free and the other supposedly had nits ( mind you they only need to say one person has something for everyone to be treated) I immediately told her and she shut down and was quiet! I told her to re check! She did spent about 5 mins showed nothing and said yes she has several nits! LOL! Then told me if I don’t like it to take it up with the supervisor. This kids share brushes sleep together but only one has bits ohh and there’s no bugs at home or at any of these checks. But an educated lice tech knows a bug can lay 7-10 eggs daily. So make this make sense. Immediately pissed I let her have it. I’m so sick of these ppl. She still tried to push treatment like they are sales ppl and do not care what they are doing to family’s. I pointed out I worked for several years doing manual checks and cleans and didn’t have a fancy machine and I know what I’m doing and tried to claim it’s impossible to clean without the special hair dryer. I will be telling everyone and anyone about this place. Do not give them your business!"

"Technician Mai Tran was thorough and took the time to really make my granddaughter feel comfortable! Mai knew an awful lot about lice and educated my son and I during every step in the process. My granddaughter left lice free and slept well later that evening!"

"My family and I went to the clinic thinking only my daughter had a mild case of lice, planning on getting my family of 4 checked and treating her. My son got checked first and it turned out that he was also positive, then my husband, then me. We were SHOCKED. It was almost 7pm and Kassandra offered to either treat us then and there or come in on what was supposed to be her day off this week just to take care of us. We came in the next say and all 4 of us w we re treated. The entire time she very thoroughly explained the process, the followup and after care as well. She told me about every product the clinic had and her knowledge on prevention was incredible. I couldn't be more grateful for her, truly. It takes a very compassionate person to go out of there way to help strangers. Shes also been wonderful with any questions I've had after the fact. Such a great experience through a very stressful day. Thanks again Kassandra, if I could give you 1,000 stars I absolutely would!"
