"I'm gonna give the benefit of the doubt (hence 2 stars) and say that my experience with him was a long time ago, so maybe he has improved and treated his patients better, or maybe he was going through some stuff when I was his patient as a child. That out of the way, this man gave me a terrible fear of dentists for my whole life. Now I was very young when I saw him, I think from the ages of 4 to 6. Most of my info on this guy is from fuzzy memories or from my mother who was there during my appointments, so again, could be misinformed. Just want to share this. When I went there when I was young, I had to get some baby teeth pulled out. The first thing I remember was being distressed because my mother wasn't allowed to come in with me, my mother told me he was especially rude about it too. I was not given any numbing or anesthesia, that's something I very vividly remember. I was kindergarten age and was getting bones pulled from my mouth with no medication to help me. Obviously since I was so young and confused, I was squirming and distressed because of the pain. He yelled at me during this, saying things like, "you're only making it worse" and "you're making this take so much longer." Reminder, I was 4 TO 6 YEARS OLD. By the end my mouth was covered in blood and my gums were bruised, I remember looking at myself in a little mirror, seeing all the red and purple, and my already flowing tears just went 10x harder. I remember on the drive home, I couldn't stop crying while my mother called my father and was screaming and ranting to him about how bloody and bruised my mouth was, and how angry she was at Kotlow for doing it to me. I'd like to emphasize again, I was very young, I have few memories. I don't know how he is nowadays. But nonetheless, this man is the reason why I have such a fear of dentists."

"I took my 5 year old son to see Dr. Kotlow a week ago. My son has severe speech articulation issues and speech therapy alone has provided very gradual progress. After speaking with Dr. Kotlow in great length about speech and sleeping issues, we decided to proceed with the tongue tie release. The procedure was quick and he was only minimally uncomfortable that day and in the days that followed. One week after the tongue tie release, we have already seen AMAZING results! He is sleeping much better with his mouth closed, and he is making speech sounds that he has never made before like S and TH! I am very glad we did this procedure and wish we did it sooner."

"PLEASE DON’T TAKE YOUR BABIES HERE for lip/tongue tie. I don’t care how “revered” Dr Kutlow is. What he is doing to babies is unnecessarily cruel when lip and tongue ties can be fixed with numbing gel and a couple of simple snips, as I learned from a friend when recounting our traumatizing experience at Dr Kutlow’s. My second child was spared so much because we found a pediatric ENT (Dr Keller) in Carmel, NY who was so sweet and fixed my son’s lip tie with some numbing gel and two simple snips. Wish we had known about him for my daughter. She was clearly traumatized when they brought her back in the room. My son barely cried with Dr Keller and there was nothing for us to do in the weeks that followed. Dr kutlow will send you home with instructions to reopen the wounds multiple times a day, causing more pain. READ THESE REVIEWS CAREFULLY TO SEE HOW HE TREATS CHILDREN."
