"This is a must visit Oldest continually licensed pub in australia est. 1807. We sat next to the wood fire, amongst ambient warm lighting, chairs are comfy, we sat in the bar area, and a candle on our table, small selection wine list but good loved the cab sav. Service friendly. Meals were large and great value. Just superb. We had the roast of the day which was pork with all the trimmings was great and i had the beef wellington loved it so satisfying. The wellington was beef cheek so not traditional but was excellent. It needed the lovely pepper gravy i had with it. Loved it. Loved the museum and all antique pieces on display upstairs. Make sure you go up stairs afterwards to complete your experience. So much old world charm and great old pub vibes. Great music some jazz completed the atmosphere. Had a great experience. "An absolute must when your in Hobart. The oldest pub in Australia. The staff were great and the meal was fantastic. Great to wander around and look at history hanging on the walls"
"I recently had the pleasure of visiting an amazing historical pub that left me feeling like I had stepped back in time. This pub had it all: a museum-like room upstairs, a cozy beer backyard, and some of the most delicious local beer I've ever tasted. The moment I walked through the door, I was struck by the pub's charm and character. The building itself was steeped in history, with exposed brick walls and wooden beams that had clearly been around for centuries. Upstairs, the museum-like room was filled with fascinating artifacts and memorabilia that gave me a glimpse into the pub's rich history. But the real highlight of my visit was the beer. The pub offered a wide range of local brews that were absolutely delicious. From light and refreshing lagers to rich and full-bodied ales, there was something for everyone. I ended up spending most of my time in the beer backyard, which was a cozy and inviting space that was perfect for relaxing with a cold drink and soaking up the pub's atmosphere. Overall, I had a wonderful time at this historical pub and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. Whether you're a history buff, a beer lover, or just looking for a nice place to stay, this pub has it all. The combination of fascinating history, delicious local beer, and charming atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for anyone in the area."
"Great to finally visit Aus Oldest Pub (oldest continually-licensed). Fantastic assortment of memorabilia, old decorations & interesting artwork - wonderful to browse. Multiple Stout Beers on tap, good range in general, various bars catering for busier times / functions, nice-looking fire places for colder times. Great service with nice food reasonably-priced. Well worth a visit."
