"Lovely place (Felt like at home with a better view) and super friendly people. Loved it. There is even a wee pub just beside the lodge. Will come back!"
"Had a great evening trying out the new facilities at The Big Style Atlantic Lodge. Where in the world would get a view like this from the comfort of a hot tub! Fantastic plunge pool and Sauna also. We also had a surfing class which topped of an brilliant way to spend an afternoon. The teachers were first class and knew their stuff inside out. Would recommend to all my friends and colleagues."
"I had the privilege of spending my hen weekend at Big Style this April. It was an incredible experience, effortless, delicious, sporty, beautiful, and nostalgic all at once! The team running the place were approachable, friendly, passionate and exuded west coast chill and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Between yoga classes, amazing home cooked meals, surf lessons, hikes, sup and bonfires with live guitar and plenty of time to relax and catch up with friends, I couldn’t have chosen a better place for this special weekend. Huge thanks to Kris, Shane, Luke, Kat, Paco, PK, Trish!"
"I was at BigStyle for a stag weekend in October and was really blown away by the experience. From the getgo the atmosphere is fantastic. It being October, the weather was grim the entire time but that added to the coziness of the buildings. Woodfires are plenty and clearly a huge amount of care has gone into making the place feel welcoming and unique. The staff were nothing short of excellent. Everyone was friendly, enthusiastic and accommodating. There were always a few heads around to help and even when I needed to wash some muddy clothes one of the lads was able to give me a hand. The food was really special. It being a stag weekend down the country, I was bracing myself for a weekend of spicebags and cheap burgers. What I got was fresh, hearty meals filled with colour and character and prepared right in front of us. They even had a woodfire for pizzas. Gorgeous. Despite the bleak weather, we were brought out for a hike around the local area, with an excellent view of the coast. This is not for the feint hearted but if you can push yourself it really adds texture to the whole trip. We were also brought to a great local beach for a surf on checkout day. With lessons for anyone who is totally new to it. All in all we really couldn't have wanted more in terms of activity, especially in that weather. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very welcoming. The facilities in general are gorgeous, but really the photos will tell you that. I'd really like to call out the staff in particular, who made the whole experience special. The whole atmosphere is so friendly and in my time there I had chats with people cooking food for us or keeping the fire going and it sincerely made the whole weekend feel very personal and charming. If a quarter pounder and chips in front of the TV is what you're after, maybe go somewhere else. If you want to spend time in a beautiful part of Ireland with interesting people, a unique pad and some cool locals, this is the only place to go."
"This place was magical. A group of us came from the US to road trip around Ireland and thank god we got a recc to stop by the Atlantic Lodge bc it was legit the highlight of our trip. First off, the location is spectacular. Such scenic beauty looking out onto the Atlantic and Clare island in the distance. The guys who run it were so friendly and helpful. It was SO NICE to shut off our phones and disconnect from electronics and just talk to people and be in nature. Had a lot of beginners w us and the lessons were so fun and relaxed that a few people went from zero experience to catching some waves. Went on a scenic hike but it wasn’t “healthy holier than thou” preachy more just fun and no pressure which was the same w the yoga which was really refreshing. The food was super healthy yet delicious which was great bc we had had a lot of fried pub food on our trip. The best part was the bon fire hang they had at night. Amazing musicians playing traditional and modern music around the fire, beers and sing alongs. The rooms had a killer view of the ocean (unreal sunsets) and the pub downstairs had great Guinness (I’m American so I don’t know the difference but it was great) Do yourself a favor and go to Mayo to the BigStyle lodge on your Ireland trip and you won’t regret it."
