"What makes a hotel experience is the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. My stay was made really comfortable and enjoyable because I was helped whenever I needed it. Philip, the hotel manager, who greeted me on arrival was really kind and made sure all of my questions were answered. Ignore all of the less complimentary reviews - this is a 3 star hotel that is really reliable. Great value place to stay and right in the centre of Southampton. It was perfect for my work trip. Thank you staff at Premier Inn Southampton (Cumberland Place)."

"Good place to stay. Right in the city but on the edge of Watts Park. Very quiet in the room. Air con was an added bonus. We didn't use the in-house restaurant as there was so much choice just a few minutes walk away. There is no car park on site but we came by train a five minute walk from the Premier Inn."

"Extremely convenient position for the part of town we needed. Very clean and comfortable room. Excellent window glazing kept traffic noise out - the road outside is very busy. Staffing levels for reception/bar need to be increased at peak times (afternoon) as we were kept waiting rather a long time to check in and to get our first drink. Breakfast was a delicious buffet with decent hot food. Mostly friendly helpful staff."

"The new cleaning regime, lack of is now starting to show stains on the carpet and furniture are apparent throughout the room. The restaurant wasn’t open, for no apparent reason and I did ask. I was once a great advocate of Premier Inn but my support is waning, Novotel and the Holiday Inn are both presenting as better options. Staying for a week without the room being serviced is poor although the do say you can ask to have the room cleaned, like wise you can go to the reception to ask for tea and coffee supplies. The service has been lowered, the standers have fallen but the price remains a premium. However it’s location is in the centre of the city with easy access to most areas."
