Historic Plover Ferry
β OpenThe Historic Plover Ferry, located at 235 Marine Drive in Blaine, Washington, is a beloved tourist attraction that offers rides on Washington's oldest foot passenger ferry, the MV Plover. Operated by the nonprofit Drayton Harbor Maritime, the Plover takes passengers on a scenic 20-minute journey between Blaine Harbor Marina and Semiahmoo Resort Wharf. Children can even have the chance to be "Captain for the Day" and steer the ferry. The Plover is part of the Coast Millennium Trail and allows passengers with bicycles on board. The ferry's two-person crew provides commentary on the history and restoration of the vessel, making the ride an educational experience. The ferry operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend, with fares by donation. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife and stunning views of the surrounding area during the cruise. The restoration of the Plover, built in 1944 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is currently underway, with the hope of a triumphant return to service in 2024. The Plover Passenger Ferry is a significant part of Blaine's maritime history and a must-see attraction for locals and tourists alike.
