Located on Anderson Island in Washington, the Historic One Room School House, Tennis/Pickleball Court, and Fitness Center offers a unique blend of history and modern amenities. The park includes Wide-Awake Hollow, the oldest one-room schoolhouse in Pierce County, along with several outbuildings and a tennis/pickleball/basketball court. The Old School House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been recently restored with the help of a matching grant from Pierce County. Operated as a membership exercise and fitness facility, the Old School House provides essential fitness and social opportunities for island residents. The park also features a bat breeding colony in the attic of the School House, which is being protected by the Park District. The grounds surrounding the Old School House, including the playground and court, are open to the public for free use.
