Scriber Lake Park
● ClosedScriber Lake Park, located at 5601 198th Street Southwest in Lynnwood, Washington, is a beautiful natural area with a rich history. Originally homesteaded by Alderwood Manor pioneer Paul Schreiber in 1890, the lake on the property eventually became known as "Scriber" Lake. The park includes 22 acres of land, with a floating boardwalk made of environmentally friendly materials that offers stunning views of the lake. Visitors can relax on artist Michele Van Slyke's welded steel benches and stools while taking in the peaceful surroundings. In the past, there was a resort at the west end of the lake, built by the Barklay family, which included a dance hall, rental cabins, and a swimming pool. Unfortunately, the lake's size was reduced and water quality compromised when 196th Street SW was widened in 1966. However, the City of Lynnwood purchased the land in 1982 to protect it as a community park.
