Vancouver Barracks
Vancouver Barracks, located in Vancouver, Washington, United States, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1849. Originally known as Camp Vancouver, the institution has also been called Columbia Barracks and Fort Vancouver before settling on its current name. Serving as the first U.S. Army post in the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver Barracks played a crucial role during the Civil War, Indian War eras, and various foreign engagements. Throughout its history, Vancouver Barracks has been home to many notable officers, including Ulysses S. Grant, Philip H. Sheridan, and George Pickett. The institution was a key recruitment, mobilization, and training facility during World War I and World War II. In the 1930s, it became the district headquarters for the Civilian Conservation Corps under the command of General George C. Marshall.
Pearson Air Museum
