The Virginia Museum of Transportation, Inc. is located in downtown Roanoke's historic freight station and has been preserving the Commonwealth's transportation history since 1963. As the Commonwealth's Official Transportation Museum, we house an impressive collection of steam, diesel, and electric locomotives. Our family-friendly museum offers interactive exhibits and artifacts that provide a unique and exciting experience for all visitors. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM, the museum offers free parking for paying guests.
