Great Shiplock Park is a historic and picturesque park located at 2803 Dock Street in Richmond, Virginia. This park features a restored shiplock and working canal lock, which were part of the James River & Kanawha Canal that served as a transport hub for tobacco warehouses along Dock Street. Visitors can enjoy unique views of downtown Richmond, as well as amenities such as benches, shade structures, and bike racks. Chapel Island, located within the park, is named after an early Episcopal chapel that was active before the founding of St. John's Episcopal Church in Church Hill. Here, visitors can fish in the tidal James River for various species, hike or bike along a half-mile of winding trails, and access a boat ramp and non-motorized boat launch. The park also includes the former Trigg Shipyard, which operated from 1898 to 1903.
