Mariner Finance

"This review is specific to the Manassas location. On numerous occasions, I have engaged with Mariner Finance, consistently encountering a streamlined process, albeit with infrequent responsiveness to phone inquiries. Following my loan application last Friday, the assured same-day response did not materialize. Subsequently visiting the location, I was promised a call on either Saturday or, at the latest, Monday, yet contractual discussions were not initiated. Repeated calls revealed the loan's still pending underwriting. Upon further contact later in the day, I received the approval. Despite being promised a 2:30 contact for finalization, no communication ensued. Subsequent proactive outreach facilitated paperwork completion. Inquiring about funding timelines, Wednesday was indicated as the latest, yet a discrepancy arose. Despite assurances from my credit union that no pending funds existed, my account remained unfunded by the promised 3 pm deadline yesterday. I am disappointed and frustrated with this process. After a week of trying to get answers, it has been discovered that Mariner Finance enter the wrong checking account information into the system. Luckily, for me the branch manager called to chided me for my frequent calls. I am not the only person that she has to service, she is understaffed and I should be patient. Also, she completely understands my feelings and my situation. I am flabbergasted and the lack of ownership is offensive."

"I financed some work through a vender and Mariner Finance was used as the lending company. The experience making the payments was fine. Once I paid off my loan I've been bombarded with emails and letters trying to get me to take out a personal loan. I don't really care about either. If they want to waste their money mailing out offers that's on them, but the most recent incident was so egregious that I can't ignore. They'll mail what's effectively a check, mark the envelope as "Check Enclosed Open Immediately" when in reality the check is an invitation to take a loan at their generous 36% APR terms. That's not including the $72.60 processing fee. This is an incredibly stupid way to do business. If someone accessed my mail and took the envelope clearly labeled "CHECK ENCLOSED" then I'd be in thousands of dollars worth of debt at an interest that would shock a loan shark."
