The Narrows
The Narrows is a popular park located in Hurricane, Utah, United States, known for its unique hiking experience through the Virgin River. Unlike most hikes, visitors must travel upstream through uneven, slippery, and rocky river boulders. Proper preparation is crucial for safety and enjoyment, including wearing closed-toed shoes, non-cotton clothing, and bringing a walking stick. Flash floods are a potential hazard, so it is important to check with park rangers for current conditions before embarking on the hike. The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon, with walls towering a thousand feet tall and the river just twenty to thirty feet wide. Visitors can hike along the Riverside Walk for a mile from the Temple of Sinawava to see The Narrows, or wade upstream in the Virgin River for a more immersive experience. Permits are required for a through-hike from Chamberlain's Ranch to the Temple of Sinawava.
Quail Creek State Park
Quail Creek State Park, located at 472 5300 West, Hurricane, Utah, United States, is a popular tourist attraction and park known for its warm waters and mild winter climate. Boaters and anglers are drawn to the park year-round to enjoy activities such as camping, hiking, and exploring. The park enforces Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, prohibiting open fires except within designated areas. Construction on the road accessing the park will take place from Fall/Winter 2023 through Summer 2024, but the park will remain open. A day-use fee will be enforced at the DWR Field Office/South Overlook parking lot starting May 1, 2023. The reservoir at Quail Creek was completed in 1985 to provide water to the St. George area, with most of the water coming from the Virgin River. The reservoir is home to a variety of fish species, including rainbow trout, bullhead catfish, and largemouth bass. Visitors can also enjoy rentals and food at the park's facilities. #FireSense makes sense at Quail Creek State Park.
