Jefferson County Youth Academy
β OpenThe Jefferson County Youth Academy, located at 5030 U.S. 69 in Beaumont, Texas, is a school that offers the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (J.J.A.E.P.). This program, also known as the Day Boot camp, is a collaborative effort between the Jefferson County Commissioners, Sheriff's Office, Juvenile Probation Department, State District Judge, and Region V with various Jefferson County School Districts. The goal of the program is to involve students and their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) in working towards a common goal. There are three categories of students at the institution: those on probation, on deferred prosecution, or expelled from their home school without court intervention. The staff at the Jefferson County Youth Academy is dedicated to providing quality education to at-risk students, with the support of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Juvenile Justice Judges, Juvenile Probation Department, Parents, and the Jefferson County School Districts. The Youth Academy is open to male and female students aged 10 to 16, with the possibility of remaining in the program until completion of requirements or graduation at age 17. All students must undergo medical and mental screening before entering the program. The institution can accommodate up to 90 students, focusing on juvenile offenders on probation and at-risk students.
