"What happened to Edna's house? In the google earth photo looks like it is falling down. Took lessons back in 1981 from her and got my private license. So sad to see, she was an amazing pilot, teacher, and person."

"Edna Gardner Whyte, a friend of Amelia Earhart taught me to fly at Aero Valley airport in 1972 when I was in my early 20's. It was one of the best times in my life. In those days there was open land as far as you could see in all directions in Roaoke Texas when your wheels left the ground. Edna and I became good friends afterwards. After Edna's old Cessna 150 she taught me to fly in, I flew out of there in a Cessna 140, a 172 and then a Bonanza, all planes I owned. I only crash landed their once in a Q-200 I built, which of course had nothing to do with the crash. The plane and I emerged unscathed. I will always have very fond memories of that wonderful time, airport and Edna Whyte. Edna has passed away, I am 72 years old and the airport has changed names, changes that have conspired to let airplanes, names, old memories and events fade into the sunset. That never to be repeated time at Aero Valley Airport in the 70's did exist though and I'll never forget it.......... until I too fade away."
