The American Legion- Charles Johnson House is a historic institution located at 404 Atlanta Street in Austin, Texas. Situated across from Ladybird Lake, the beautiful grounds of the Charles Johnson House feature 800-year-old trees, indoor and outdoor event options, and a flexible rental schedule. Originally built by Charles Johnson, a skilled stone mason who strongly opposed slavery, the 2-story house overlooks the Colorado River and boasts 18-inch thick stone walls. The house was constructed with the help of other Swedish members of the Johnson family and served as a gathering place for various activities.
