The Jimmy Simmons Music Building is home to the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, United States. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, this institution offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, as well as a curriculum that fosters creativity and inspiration in students every day. Students at the department have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural study of music, participate in various ensembles, attend live performances, compose original pieces, and refine their musical talents. Located in Southeast Texas, the department encourages students to engage with the local cultural scene, including institutions such as the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society, Beaumont Community Players, Beaumont Ballet Theatre, and the Beaumont Civic Ballet. Graduates of the department have gone on to successful careers in music, such as Trevor Duell, a member of the 25th Infantry Division Band and a Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music alumni, who recently put together a tribute for the 80th Commemoration of Pearl Harbor featuring the Paradise Brass Quintet.
