Backcountry Campsite #28
Backcountry Campsite #28 is located in the wilderness area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States. This campground offers a unique experience for hikers, horseback riders, and boaters to enjoy the beauty of the park. With nearly 100 designated campsites and 15 shelters available, visitors can choose the accommodation that best suits their needs. Reservations and permits are required to ensure a limited number of people at each campsite, and can be obtained at the Backcountry Office at the Sugarlands Visitor Center or online. Campers at Backcountry Campsite #28 will find a large, cleared area with a fire ring for campfires, and a system of pulleys and cables to hoist food containers up to keep them safe from bears. While bear attacks are rare, it is important to be prepared with bear spray and know how to handle encounters with wildlife. Firearms are allowed for self-defense in the backcountry, except in designated areas.
