“Had the roast pork knuckle and it was fantastic, loved the side of potatoes and sauerkraut! Didnt get to take a photo of the butterscotch crepes but that was lovely Friendly staff, very homey”

“Came here on a Friday evening for dinner. Got here at 5:30pm. Had a booking and advised them that we required wheelchair access, which they were, and kindly accommodated us. We ordered the chilli prawn and mussel hotpot as a share entree, seafood paella, and rib eye with an extra bowl of chips for mains. All were delicious, cooked perfectly. We were too full to order dessert, but we were so keen on getting the mango brulee. We will have to come back to try it! Also, they do not serve alcohol which I support! (But they do offer BYO)”

“Today we got a nice breakfast at black wood. A bit busy bit everything was food I ordered chilli chicken schnitzel sandwich with fries potatoes (it was salty to me)and Angus burger + a iced latte and cappuccino. It was delicious. The staff was wonderful. So kind.”

“The food is really good here, pork belly is very tender and the crackling is nice and crunchy. Plate present well, not too overly decorate. Serving size is on the small scale but not bad for the price paid. Desserts are good too. Service is great, food came out quickly. Atmosphere is nice, not too noisy.”

We all commented on how low the noise level was, particularly for such a busy restaurant. The ability to have a conversation at a restaurant, without having to raise your voice, is a rare commodity. “Fantastic relaxing Lebanese cuisine experience in Walsh Bay. The service was prompt and friendly, we were welcomed upon arrival and taken to our table quickly, even though it was Saturday dinner time and it was getting busy. It is a high-end food experience delivered in an informal and relaxed style. Falafel was a highlight of the menu - crusty on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a vegetable tempura-style cooked eggplant and baba ganush; it was perfect. Labane was thick and flavorful, and koftas had just the right spices. For those who love cocktails, the menu offers a Mediterranean flavor of these.”

“Our go to pizza joint, we've never had a poor experience here. Food is always amazing and comes in large portions. The atmosphere is brilliant, comfortable lighting and well placed seating, all of which is boosted by the friendly and attentive staff. Always quick service and one of the few restaurants that doesn't ask you how everything is while you have a mouthful. Instead they let you enjoy your meal and check in with you when there's a clear break in-between bites or conversation.”

“Went during a weekday for brunch. It was quite empty so we got to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. My partner and I ended up ordering the smoked salmon, spinach, lemon and chive cream cheese sauce in a crepe batter (interesting but would stick to the galette next time), as well the prosciutto, tomato, cheese and basil galette. Both were delicious and definitely filling. Would definitely go back to try more on the menu.”

“It was my first time and didn’t disappoint. The service was amazing! Food was of course great too! I ordered rib eye steak medium well and it was done accordingly to how I expect it to be! The dessert was so so so good. We ordered the sticky date and apple crumble I think? The pastry was flaky and done beautifully. The ambiance was beautiful and the location. All staff were very warm and accomodating.”

“Had a really enjoyable date night there, Robert was our waiter who was not only very attentive but very friendly and provided far beyond expected service, made us feel very welcome. We got the seafood platter, served over several courses and it was very enjoyable, great mix and well matched for each course leaving us very happy with our choice, serving sizes were great too, had just enough room left to share a desert which was also very delicious. We will certainly be back. Thank you for hosting us :)”

“We had such a sensational evening here tonight. From the minute you walk in to the very last minute you walk out, the service, attention and fine detail from the staff is impeccable. The venue itself is beautiful, easy to get to and the ambiance itself, warm, welcoming extremely classy. We had a group, so opted for the signature set menu - pleasantly delighted with each plate that were served - presentation, quality and taste were of high standards. The passionfruit soufflé was unique and delectable (highly recommend). One thing to note, we had a group booking of 8 and due to unforeseen last minute reasons we had 2 now shows. Staff / management were empathetic and at NO point did they make a fuss (despite their booking terms and conditions), question or talk about charging a “no show” fee. I was pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived, we were not charged. This speaks volumes about this venue - they are humble, honest and genuinely focus on their guests dining experience. Would hands down recommend. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!”

“Stunning place with beautiful bar. Server were attentive and polite. Followed the reviews here and ordered the gnocchi and the creme brulee. Was very very good. The tartare was delicious and mixed tableside to your preferences. A lovely and fancy night out.”

“Came here with no expectations as I have had a run of bad luck with restaurants as of late. Service was 1st class. The food... Omg the food! Garlic bread with olive tapenade to start which was beautiful. Steak tartare was divine. Perfectly seasoned. Only advice will be double or triple the bread. Mains were a home run. The steak was so tender... Cooked to perfection. The fish pie was a story of pure magic. Creamy and well balanced without that overly fishy smell or taste. The puff pastry was fluffy and golden and crunchy. I would eat this again and again and again. Side were the green beans (yummmm), cauliflower (the chilli hit is excellent) and the mash potatoes with truffle oil (super flavourful). I ate too much but I had already ordered dessert... Coconut curd and the chocolate fondant. The curd wasn't my favourite thing in the world, but my wife loved it, and I thought she'd hate it. The fondant is a thing of beauty... I'd eat this for brekky, lunch and dinner. I'll be back here again soon... Steak tartare, steak/fish pie and fondant next time for sure. Thanks for an amazing evening Peter and Antoine.”

I do not even exaggerate, i am French and really picky with my food but i never had such food in Australia, it is a 10/10 I'll highly recommend the place, shout out to the service it was a full show. It is not even pricey for 2 people with a 3 course meal + drinks our bill was only 220$ it is so much worth it.”

“This shop has an impressive menu for a chicken shop. I had the Chisholm chicken burger and I have to say: it’s damn good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and so was the bacon: crispy without being too hard to bite through. Really appreciate how tidy they wrapped the burger as well—didn’t have any peri-peri sauce drip off at all. Will be back again!”
