Hilton Head Rear Range Lighthouse
The Hilton Head Rear Range Lighthouse, also known as the Leamington Lighthouse, is a historic tourist attraction located at 53 Leamington Lane in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States. Built between 1879 and 1880, this lighthouse played a crucial role in guiding ships to Port Royal Sound. While the faux lighthouse at Harbour Town may be more well-known, the Hilton Head Rear Range Light is the island's only true lighthouse. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this lighthouse is a significant part of Hilton Head Island's history. Visitors can explore the 92-foot structure, vintage brick oil house, water cistern, and one of the oldest living oak trees on the island. After a recent renovation in September 2019, the lighthouse continues to be a must-visit destination for history buffs and tourists alike.
