Peachtree Rock Heritage Preserve
Peachtree Rock Heritage Preserve is a unique and educational park located in Lexington, South Carolina. Just a short drive from downtown Columbia, this preserve offers visitors a glimpse into the area's rich history and unusual geology. The sandstone formations, fossils of ancient marine creatures, and towering longleaf pines create a picturesque setting for hiking and exploration. At the entrance of the preserve, visitors can enjoy the sight of the only natural waterfall on the state's coastal plain, cascading into a small pool. The now-toppled Peachtree Rock, after which the preserve is named, is described in detail at a new kiosk near its location. Despite the rock's fall, visitors can still see a smaller formation known as "Little Peachtree Rock" along the trail.
