Greer Pediatric Dental Care

"I will preface this review that I respect and understand clinics have their own policies and no calls/no shows are common and a nuisance to healthcare facilities. We try our best to always give appropriate notification and always communicate openly and fully with healthcare providers to not waste their time or ours. In early January, we called and scheduled my daughter, 2, and arrived to the appointment with no issues. We met the team and had a great experience. We were advised she needed a filling and completely trusted that advice and scheduled for a sedation appointment at 6:30am on the 22nd of February. After going home, we were afraid that it would be too long of a wait and called back to communicate the concern and they were very kind and offered to put us on the wait list for any cancelations and they could bump up our appointment. After a week, we got a call back from them, and we agreed to take the cancelation appointment on Feb 13th. We were beyond happy for the opportunity. Come yesterday, February 12th at approximately 8pm, my daughter experienced a rapid onset of vomiting and diarrhea. Then, her temperature became elevated. She had a hard time falling asleep, and we were up until almost 2am before she finally was able to fall asleep. We set our alarm to 6:30am to call and notify the clinic that we won't be bringing her in since she wasn't feeling well. We were concerned since she would have to drink a "sleepy juice" to help her during the procedure. With the possibility of not being able to stomach it and for the safety of others and the employees, we wouldn't want to bring in our unwell child. Of course, due to staying up so late, we didn't hear our alarm at 6:30 and only woke up at 7:30. We immediately called the clinic to apologize, we had missed the appointment and explained the situation. We were told, "since you didn't give us a 24 hour notice of cancelation, we can't reschedule this, and you will have to find a different clinic to see her." Honestly, I would completely understand a no call/no show fee since we did miss it. I also completely understand clinics implement different ways to reduce or discourage no calls/no shows such as monetary fees, automated reminders, etc, but to just flat out refuse to see us due to ONE missed appointment was quite unsettling to us. We definitely felt we were not treated sympathetically and did not correspond to the initial image of the team when we were first seen. We are by no means abusing the clinic nor are we repeat offenders of no call/no shows so we were quite upset not given another chance because we truly wanted to be seen and truly worry about our child's wellness. Now, we will have to find another clinic, wait, and try to get scheduled to be seen. We hope no one else has this experience. We hope the clinic will be more forgiving of first-time offenders of no calls/no shows because there are people who actually don't intentionally miss their appointment."
