Bistro in Barnsley

“Loved this little gem of a place. Booked quite late but was offered 2 time options. Arrived and was shown to a small table for 2 in the middle of the room which was ok, but were then offered a different table closer to a window and more roomy which we accepted. Dinner was lovely, Sunday dinner and steak pie were our choices. In all honestly, the pie was too much!!! Maybe no starter next time......although the soup was to die for. Will definitely return”

“Went for a walk around Cannon Hall Gardens and after went into the Thyme Bistro for a coffee. As it was Sunday we decided to try the roast Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. I ordered the slow cooked beef and my girlfriend had the roast turkey breast. It was honestly the best tasting beef I've ever had. You can tell instantly that it was freshly cooked and the taste of thyme really came through the meat and roast potatoes. We would highly recommend this bistro for the Sunday lunch. We will 100% be going back there to try their other meals (the pulled pork sandwiches looked amazing). All you could hear was people from other tables saying how amazing the meat was. Definitely 10/10.”

“Went to this lovely restaurant yesterday for my husbands birthday. We were a group of six and we were made very welcome. Staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and although quiet had a lovely atmosphere. The food was amazing, delicious and beautifully presented. We were also given lots of free extras which was a pleasant surprise. Can highly recommend and will definitely be returning soon.”

“Sometimes you just stumble across a gem and we did today. What a fantastic setting. Polite professional staff and beautiful hot tasty food. Pulled beef sandwich and chips were perfect. The best onion rings I've ever tasted and crispy batter. Everything about the place is brilliant and not a long wait between ordering and delivery of the food to the table.”

“This place is fantastic. Visiting family and we went here to eat. A busy Saturday night but they were well organised and timely, excellent service. But the very best thing is the food. Its so tasty, such good selections and choice. Great flavours and quality of ingredients used, good portions sizes and very good prices for the food you get. We returned again on our next trip and will def visit there again, whenever we go see family. We even suggested they open one where we lived. Excellent.”

“A large group of us attended in January 2023. I wasn't overwhelmed by looking at the limited menu but wow, the food was incredible. This is not cheap belly filler from Wetherspoons, this is all fresh food, all of what I saw looked home made, chicken looked home battered etc. The 1 cask ale that was on there was well kept. All that at and it wasn't expensive, it was superior food at Wetherspoons prices. Keep this pub going please, we need more like this, and I want it open for the next time I want to go.”

“Had a cracking (pardon the pun) experience at the Cracked Teapot. I had the Teapot breakfast and my work colleague had the Scottish salmon with scrambled eggs. For the cost, presentation and most importantly quantity of the food was amazing. I strongly recommend a visit while in Barnsley. I’ll also be trying the cocktails on my next visit, as they looked amazing (photos on Facebook) and I’ll be trying one or five on my next visit. Stunning, classy, friendly staff, 5star food, not bad music. A must visit.”
