Environmental policy journalism in Rhode Island

The URI Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting, located at 1 Greenhouse Road in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, is dedicated to fostering informed and inclusive public conversations about environmental issues. The institute offers science training for journalists, communication training for scientists, and various public programs to enhance understanding of environmental topics. As part of the URI College of Environment and Life Sciences, Metcalf Institute collaborates with academics, government agencies, non-profits, businesses, community representatives, and news organizations nationwide to develop customized programs and resources that improve news coverage of environmental issues. The institute is currently seeking a new Assistant Director to help shape programming and operations.
