“What a brilliant course! Firstly, Mart was very accommodating with regards to finding a date and time that suited us to do the course, despite Storm Eunice’s best efforts to stop this from happening! Mart is evidently not only a very knowledgeable and experienced boat handler, but also a great teacher. The classroom, theory based stuff was taught in a fun, engaging and easy to digest manner, accompanied by chocolate. Out on The Sound, we had a great time learning how to handle the boat. From turning at speed, to slowly pull up alongside ‘Bob’, who is very careless and frequently managed to find himself over board…. I highly recommend booking to do the powerboat level 2 course with Mart. You’ll not only learn a lot and gain a useful qualification, but have a great time doing it.”

“The relaxed yet enthusiastic staff & set up created a perfect holiday atmosphere! The beach provided so much space so you feel you could join in at any point or just relax and watch the children learning their new skills …. Sailing, windsurfing, winging, kayaks, paddle boards .. everything for the perfect variation for a week on the water. The family run hotel combined with the Trek crew made the best combination. The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Would 100% recommend and 100% revisit!”

“Thanks to Paul and Kevin for a great segway experience. Well co-ordinated tuition on the use of the Segway for all ages and our group varied from 11 years to 76 years. After training you head out into Cann woods and put your training to use on the paths and tracks of Cann woods. At the end you do a short time trial to add a bit of competition to the end of your Segway experience.”

“I have been using Newell's travel Tavistock branch for the last 15 years. In my experience all of the staff have been very helpful and work to a very high standard, but the is one particular staff member who deserves special mention, Sharon. She has arranged all of our holidays and has provided excellent service, going the second or even the third mile to make certain everything works very smoothly for us. On several occasions we had a special request and Sharon always dealt with these perfectly and with a ready smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I have watched her working with other customers and her service for them has always been to the same high standard. Although I know that she has had significant stress and worry in her personal life this has never been allowed to interfere with her work or lower her standards. I have heard other customers express similar thoughts. Newell' s are extremely fortunate to have her and I hope this is appreciated by the company.”

“Went on the 1 hour Seal trip. Saw some lovely coastline of Cornwall, saw a couple of Seals too. Felt very safe with lifejackets provided and staff were great. We were super lucky with a very calm sea. Great fun, would highly recommend.”

“Genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Captain Keith is clearly very passionate & knowledgeable about the local wildlife and conservation as was Sam who was volunteering as part of their studies. Both Captain Keith and Sam made everyone feel very welcome aboard and safe. In terms of wildlife spotting - WOW! We came really close to seals, we had a pod of Harbour Porpoises to the side of the boat, saw rare sea birds and more common ones (the Gannets were particularly striking) , different species of jellyfish and so many pods of dolphins. Some in the distance, some swimming along the front of the boat, some at the side - we saw multiple dolphin calves swimming alongside the boat with their mothers. They were so close we could hear their clicks and squeaks. Captain Keith and Sam made sure everyone on the trip (7 of us on total) got equal opportunity to view wildlife from the bow. It was truly an amazing experience and one I’ll never forget. I feel very privileged to have seen such an abundance of wildlife in its natural habitat in such stunning surroundings.”

“My Son and I had a great time here. We took a return trip on the train from Paignton to Kingswear. Such a wonderfully evocative way to travel and this is such a scenic line! You can also do the trip part train, part paddle steamer too and if we'd had a bit more time I'd probably have taken that option, but nevertheless, the train journey was superb anyway. Paignton station is right next door to the mainline railway station but there is no car park as such for the steam railway, so you have to use the mainline station's car park and walk back round, only a two minute walk, but you have to pay for a day's parking. Given that, you should plan to make a day of it! Kingswear is a beautiful place to visit anyway! Tickets are best booked via their website to avoid disappointment during the busy season. We visited midweek in June and could easily have bought our tickets at Paignton, but if you are going to do that, get there a good twenty minutes before your train goes as this railway is VERY punctual! Train times are on their website and they stick to them!”

They get busy and it does feel like you have to move along when people are behind you but you always go back in again or lap round again Had a wonderful time and the layout is great with different hidden gems scattered around. “In June 2021Jayne provided us with an excellent 3 hour walking tour of the old Admiralty Victualling Yard, the Barbican, a short ferry trip within the harbour and Devonsire cream scones, with a taxi to and from the station (we were on the Devonian steam Express). Jayne is friendly, informative and enthusiastic about Plymouth, adjusting her pace to suit our group, including two octagenarians.
