The BGC Activity Center is home to a diverse array of activities, meetings, and events throughout the year, designed to benefit neighborhood residents. Managed by the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC), the Center hosts programs and events not only organized by the BGC but also by various other groups and agencies.
Among the BGC's notable collaborations are partnerships with the Garfield Jubilee Association for its YouthBuild program, the IRS for providing free tax-return assistance to lower-income households, and NeighborWorks of Western PA for homebuyer education workshops. Additionally, the space is utilized by Alcoholics Anonymous for weekly meetings, the Garfield Land Trust for bi-weekly meetings, and the Alpha Iota Sorority for hosting clothing drives and offering free haircuts to children in preparation for the school year.
The BGC’s Board of Directors meets on the 2nd Monday of every month in the main hall, and these meetings are open to the public, fostering a spirit of transparency and community involvement. The BGC Activity Center is a cornerstone of the neighborhood, dedicated to enriching the lives of its residents through a wide range of services and programs.
