Amberson Plaza Apartments

"Easily the worst apartment I've ever lived in. The ceiling is leaking. The rat in the kitchen. The entire apartment in infested with ticks and fleas. The building is so old that I hear rats crawling and running in the wall every night. Yes, it's rat-infested. And i am overpaying so much. I will be moving out soon. This apartment gave me so much stress and pain that I cannot no longer live here. I am living in hell!!! All my clothes are ruined because of the water leaking and pouring from the ceiling.. I am furious! Edit: Jennifer and the maintenance guy are nice people. They are reasonable and easy to talk to. They do the best they can, but the building is really just out of control."

"I have issues with the security deposit when I left the apartment. First, they delayed the refund of deposit as possible as they can. I requested on May 17, but when I asked in June 5, they hadn't processed my refund request yet. Then they mailed a check to me on June 5. One week later, finally I received it. However, ther was only a refund statement in the envelope. They FORGOT to put in the CHECK!!! They decided to mail it again despite that I must close my bank account two days later!! (I'm leaving the US and I expect the check to come into my mailbox after me leaving.) To me, the property management doesn't put themselve in the tenents' shoes. It's quite anonying when you are in hurry to get all things done before leaving the country. (even though I requested the refund one month earlier!)"

"Apartments are very good considering the rent amount. Staff is very polite and helpful. They helped me even after many years of moving out by storing my goods."

"I lived in Amberson Plaza for over a year. Overall for the price, location, and building, it's a good option for students (especially for CMU, since it's a 15 min walk to campus). The management is fantastic, Jennifer is very understanding and kind. Maintenance requests are always addressed in a timely manner- I never had an issue that wasn't almost immediately taken care of. The 1-bedroom apartments are very spacious. Many tenants (including my roommate and I) used the living room section of the 1-bedroom units as another bedroom, and this still results in ample space for both people. Warmer weather tends to cause a resurgence of a cockroach problem, but this is something that management is aware of. They have an exterminator come for routine fumigations every couple of months, and maintenance takes care of any acute issues. My experience at Amberson Plaza was a pleasant one, and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a reasonably-priced and well-located apartment."

"Very good living experience in Amberson plaza! Perfect location for young professionals and students. Very close to supermarket and public transportation. I’ve lived in different apts before around campus and I def think Amberson plaza is the best one! Btw, James always provide good maintenance service!! Very very nice person !!"
