Established on February 17, 1851, Pine Township, originally known as "Pine Grove Township," was formed from the central part of Wolf Creek Township. The first settlers of the area included John Perry, John Sutherland, James Miller, James Glenn, and Thomas McCoy. Today, Pine Township surrounds Grove City Borough and is bordered by four other townships and two counties.
