Established on February 17, 1851, Pine Township, originally known as "Pine Grove Township," was formed from the central part of Wolf Creek Township. The first settlers of the area included John Perry, John Sutherland, James Miller, James Glenn, and Thomas McCoy. Today, Pine Township surrounds Grove City Borough and is bordered by four other townships and two counties.

Residents can conveniently make payments electronically or by placing them in the utility payment box located just outside the Municipal Building office door. Pine Township operates a public water distribution system and a public sewer collection system, serving approximately 1200 customers. The Pine Township Volunteer Fire Co., also known as the Pine Township Engine Company, is located at 1252 South Center Street Extension. This dedicated fire department serves both Pine and Wolf Creek Townships and is certified in Swift Water Rescue and Rescue, providing crucial support to surrounding volunteer fire departments.

"Road dept is a joke. Crappy road leads to a flat tire and "supervisor" says even if the township hits my car I'm responsible for it. Instead of just saying sorry we dont help people with the cost of a flat tire. I'm glad to know that if they decide to hit a vehicle, some poor soul has to foot the bill on it. Supposedly there is no one higher up to complain about this twp. Thanks for the flat pine twp!"
