Originally the property of Benjamin and Mary Custard, the area was home to a woolen mill and Georgian-style home known as the Carsonia Inn. In 1894, John A Rigg and Robert N. Carson transformed the farm into an amusement park and grove, which became known as Carsonia Park. The park featured a variety of rides and attractions, including the Big Toboggan, Grand Carousel, Circle Swing, and more. Visitors could also enjoy band concerts, theater shows, and delicious food and drinks. The park was a popular destination for families and children, with trolleys bringing thousands of people daily.
