SCI Waymart
SCI Waymart, located at 11 Fairview Drive in Waymart, Pennsylvania, United States, is a state correctional institution with a rich history. Originally opened in 1989 to house inmates displaced by riots at SCI Camp Hill, the facility was previously operated as Farview State Hospital by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. In 1995, it was designated as a Forensic Treatment Center under the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, providing psychiatric care to inmates within the state's correctional system. The institution offers a range of educational, vocational, and treatment programs to its inmate population, including a Drug and Alcohol Unit, Sex Offender Treatment Program, and a Personal Care Unit for inmates with medical issues. In addition, SCI Waymart operates a garment plant that employs 120 inmates, producing uniforms and rain gear for state prisons and the PA Department of Transportation.
