MaCalus V. Hogan, MD, MBA, is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon based at 5200 Centre Ave, Ste 415, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. Dr. Hogan is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as the David Silver Professor and Chair of the UPMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He holds multiple key roles at UPMC, including chief of foot and ankle surgery, vice chair of education, and residency program director. Additionally, Dr. Hogan is a professor in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bioengineering, and he directs the Foot and Ankle Injury Research (FAIR) group and co-directs the Musculoskeletal Growth and Regeneration Lab. Dr. Hogan's educational background is extensive. He completed his undergraduate studies with honors at Xavier University of Louisiana and earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. He underwent orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia Health System, including a fellowship year focused on musculoskeletal tissue repair and regeneration through the NIH Clinician Scientist program. He further specialized in foot and ankle surgery during his fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where he gained experience as a consultant for the New York Ballet Company, American Ballet Theatre, and various sports teams.

As part of the Free Library of Philadelphia system, our library has a rich history dating back to 1867 when it was founded as the Holmesburg Reading Room and Library Association. Over the years, it has evolved with the community, offering a wealth of resources and services to patrons of all ages. The library is proud to serve not only Holmesburg but also the neighboring Mayfair section, fostering a sense of community and learning. Our historic building, funded by Andrew Carnegie and opened in 1907, has been lovingly renovated to include modern amenities like Internet access, ensuring a blend of tradition and innovation.
