Boscov's

"Deeply disappointed in my most recent visit, and at this point all of my visits to this store. This was my second or third time shopping at this store, specifically the Jewelry department and to have been blatantly ignored by the jewelry associates when I was interested in seeing a piece of jewelry was incredibly disappointing. The same associate has always worked the jewelry counter since my first visit. She is an older white woman with short grey hair cut into a bob with bangs. She also usually wears red nail polish. On three separate occasions I have stood at the jewelry counter and waited for service. She’s never once greeted me, or let me know she’d be with me. What she has done however is walk right past me, look at me and then look away, help someone else that walks up, or leave the jewelry counter entirely. The first time I visited this store I spent over $400 at the jewelry counter and the ONLY reason I was helped by her is because she had already passed by me a few times and I guess she could no longer make it look inconspicuous that she was ignoring me. However, during my most recent visit she walked swiftly by me, intentionally trying not to make eye contact and left the jewelry counter completely. And I hate to say prejudice has a part in this but I believe it truly it does. There was also second associate working the jewelry counter, a man, who from what I remember seeing on his name tag was named Robert. After waiting for over 10 mins to be assisted, watching him fuss with something behind the counter… he reluctantly asked if I’d like to see something. No greeting, no eye contact. He made me feel as though I was a nuisance he needed to quickly rid himself of. The entire experience was a shame. Before I was even born my mom worked for Boscovs for over 10 years and knows Mr. Boscov personally. I’ve truly grown up shopping at Bosocov (Plymouth Meeting) my entire life. And to have had repeat experiences of being blatantly ignored for service or given the bare minimum most likely because I am black is just sad and dishonorable for this department store chain. I’ll make it a point to stay away from here being as though I am not welcome."

"I have rediscovered Boscov's. With many stores not representing the populous well, Boscov's continues to treat everyone the same. I now have a charge card and enjoy the specials they offer. They seem to be big into supporting the community."

"Good selection of clothes, only complaint is that the sale signs are rather deceptive (most things are ALWAYS "on sale"). You can definitely get some great deals on quality clothing though!"

"They own the shopping center in reading and allowing a pet store to open selling puppies from puppy mills and don’t care just about the money. Poor puppies arrive dead and the ones who survive end up in small cages."

"The first day my son and I went to look for a suit for his Senior Prom we were greeted by a very nice guy named Dennis in the men's department. Even though he was clocking out for the day he quickly got us some stuff to get started and told us he would be in the following day at 1pm. We agreed to look at some stuff and come back. Well day 2 was much different. We arrived and located Dennis. We stood there for 15 minutes before he even acknowledged us(we were standing directly in front of him). When he did ask us if we needed help we told him that we had left some items with his coworker and we were hoping to get his expertise in sizing and stuff. He couldn't be bothered, he retrieved our items from the back, said have fun at prom, and went right back to laughing and joking with the female coworker he was talking to when we came in. Time to find another suit store."
